These regulations give California residents the right to opt-out of, and receive information about, the use of AI for consequential decisions. Businesses must provide pre-use notices explaining how the technology works and the logic involved, particularly when AI is used for profiling or predicting behavior in work, education, or healthcare.
Real world example:
An online retailer using AI to dynamically price goods based on user profiling must allow California users to opt-out of that automated logic and see a plain-language summary of the price-setting criteria.
